For many, the passing around of the offering plate has a negative connotation.
We get it. That’s why we’re shedding light on what it really means to give back to the church and live generously.

What does it mean to tithe?

You’ve undoubtedly heard some refer to donations to a church as “tithing.” Tithing means giving 10% of something (namely your income), and the Bible tells us that giving one-tenth of our incomes back to the church should be a goal for all believers.

Why Should I tithe?

Tithing to the church shouldn’t be considered a way to impress others or do a spiritual “goody.” Rather, tithing is a decision between you (or you and your family) and God.

2 Corinthians 9:7 tells us to “give with a cheerful heart…not reluctantly or under compulsion.” In other words, if you’re a believer and follower of Christ, you’re called to give back a small portion of what God has blessed you with and do it willingly and as a form of worship, gratitude, and obedience to God. In return, He promises to bless us a hundredfold.

How is my tithe used?

Great question! Your tithes go directly into fueling our mission of helping people know Jesus, grow in their faith, and go make a difference in the world. This means that your financial gifts go towards our various ministries, day-to-day operations, Sunday services, etc.

We pride ourselves on being completely transparent here at Elevate, and we hold regular budget meetings that are open to the public. We encourage everyone in our church family to attend and ask questions.
